QVSA Students

The QVSA program brings together likeminded, highly capable or high potential students. These student would benefit from and contribute to a motivated STEM learning community that would embrace:

  • enriched and challenging STEM learning, aligned to, but not replacing the classroom delivery of the Australian curriculum
  • ​building student 21st century learning skills
  • problem solving and inquiry
  • critical and creative thinking
  • collaboration and communication.
The QVSA also ​seeks to enhance opportunities and the aspiration of our female, indigenous ,rural and remote and socio disadvantaged students in creating this learning community. 

There are several ways to become a QVSA student. The Principal or delegated teacher nominates students who reflect the attributes (AIMS) below. These attributes place students in the best position to embrace and grow within the likeminded c​ommunity and enriched and challenging curriculum and learning experiences of the QVSA.  Nominated students reflect the attributes of:
  • Ability- The student may demonstrate their high capability in STEM areas by their achievement or show potential to benefit from the QVSA approach to realise ability.
  • Interest-  The student displays genuine interest in any STEM domain and inquiry.
  • Motivation- The student demonstrates motivation through self-regulation, organisation and responsibility. 
  • Skills- ​The student demonstrates or has the potential to demonstrate 21st century skills that the QVSA actively seeks to develop (collaboration and team work, communication, critical thinking, problem solving)

​If you would like to know more about how to enrol or the standards required please contact your regional contact​. Once enrolled, students and staff will receive invitations to participate in courses as they are offered.
